InFocus Expands HT Projector Lineup

10.11.2002

InFocus Corporation (Wilsonville, OR) (www.infocus.com) has unveiled the second product in its emerging home theater offerings. The ScreenPlay 7200 joins the ScreenPlay 110 as a higher-end product featuring 1280 x 720 resolution and a $9,999 price tag. It ships in October.

The ScreenPlay 7200 uses Texas Instruments' (Dallas, TX) (www.dlp.com) HD-2/Mustang chip set and a six-segment color wheel. Light output is rated at 1000 ANSI lumens, certainly among the highest available in a home theater projector, and contrast is a high 1400:1. Image quality is improved by using a Carl Zeiss field lens engine design and projection lens.

We were impressed with the image quality when we saw it at the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) show at the end of September. Colors looked good and are calibrated to D65. In fact, the unit received the CEDIA 2002 Manufacturer's Excellence Award for Best Video Product.
"The ScreenPlay 7200 is a great product and it is refreshing to see manufacturers pay attention to the custom installation industry," said Matt Baker, Chairman of the CEDIA Awards committee. "The features and benefits exhibited in the ScreenPlay 7200 make InFocus' attention and efforts to accommodate the custom installation industry evident."
