LED and Laser-based Ultraportable Projector Webinar

LED-based ultraportable projectors with light output of 50 to 150 lumens have been introduced by Dell, Samsung and LG, with others to follow. Lamp-based projectors currently dominate projector sales with systems weighing four pounds or less and lumens in the 1500 – 3000 range. Higher lumen LED projectors are expected to reach the market this year although none are expected to reach the 1500 lumen level. Will such projectors ignite the interest of consumer and professional users?

This webinar is designed to discuss some of the technical, cost, performance and business development issues around this key question. For example, projectors with solid-state light sources (LED or lasers) have significantly lower performance than lamp-based ultraportable projectors with the same price. But there are advantages such as lighter weight, smaller size, reduced color break-up, improved colorimetry and longer life than lamp-based projectors. Can these advantages combine to displace some lower-lumen lamp-based projectors? Will the advantages create entire new markets for projectors? Tune in to this webinar to get some clues.

This webinar is based on the Insight Media 2009 LED- and Laser-based Ultraportable Projector Report issued in January 2009 where the issues discussed in this webinar are covered in much greater detail.
